Florence Lavallée/ Lawyer

 

Florence Lavallée has been a lawyer at O’Reilly, André-Grégoire & Associates since July 2023, after first joining the firm as an articling student. Florence practices Aboriginal law and public law. In her practice, she represents the interest of her clients in major litigation cases and cases regarding the duty to consult Aboriginal peoples, by commenting on bills and regulations. She is also involved in cases regarding Indigenous self-determination and the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Passionate about politics and international affairs, Florence completed a bachelor's degree in international relations and international law at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) before obtaining a bachelor's degree in law in the co-op program at the Université de Sherbrooke. Florence's co‑op work experience focused on social justice, with internships at the Commission Canadienne des droits de la personne, the Centre de justice de proximité du Grand Montréal and a civil litigation firm in Montreal. During her studies, she also completed a study session at the University of Vilnius in Lithuania. Her interest in Aboriginal issues, politics and social justice led her to pursue a career in Aboriginal law.
