Juliette Vanasse / Lawyer

Juliette Vanasse has been a lawyer at O’Reilly, André-Grégoire & Associates since August 2024, after first joining the firm as an articling student, where her practice focuses on Aboriginal and environmental law. Since joining ORAGA, Juliette has been involved in proceedings instituted by Indigenous communities defending their territory against encroachment by governments and major corporations. She also represents the interests of her clients in various consultation and self-determination processes related to the protection of the territory and its resources.
Juliette holds both a bachelor's in law and a master's in law from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), where her thesis analyzed, from an Indigenous environmental justice framework, the recent modification of Quebec’s Natual heritage conservation act (Loi sur la conservation du patrimoine naturel) to include Aboriginal-led protected areas. During her graduate studies, Juliette held teaching and research assistant positions in Aboriginal law and worked as the coordinator for an interdisciplinary research team on Indigenous issues.
Passionate about social and environmental justice issues, defending and promoting the rights of Indigenous communities has been central to Juliette legal and academic career, work she now continues with O'Reilly, André-Grégoire & Associés.
